What is the greatest gift you can give to your loved ones? What do they really want and need?
As I think about the days ahead, I'm thinking about this question with respect to the many people I love in my life. Of course, the answer differs dependent on the people. Some of the answers I came up with are the following:
Space
Some of my loved ones are tremendously busy. To simply give them space is a great gift.
Respect
To respect the choices, needs, decisions and direction of our loved ones is a great gift.
Welcome
Sometimes people simply want to be welcomed with warmth.
Generosity
A gift of generosity--generosity of time, place, money, talent and encouragement is greatly appreciated.
Home cooking
Some distant from home look forward to a home cooked meal or baked goods.
A good time
If you can offer people a good time by way of a party, an adventure, celebration or travel, they will appreciate it.
Hand me downs
Sometimes items that you already own are a perfect gift for someone you love.
Artistry
Creating a personalized gift can be the perfect present.
Companionship
There are times when your companionship alone is the best gift you can give.
What your love one most desires
Sometimes our love ones long for a specific gift, and if it is possible to give them that gift, it will be greatly appreciated.
There's a great myriad of gifts we can give those we love. Choosing the right match is where the magic in gift giving arises. Onward.
