I've become a big fan of the meet-up. A meet-up is when you set a time and place and invite people in a particular group or groups to show up to spend time together. What's great about meet-ups is that they're generally inclusive because anyone can come. Meet-ups can be low-cost, healthy, and fun too.
For example, I have a very large extended family. To invite everyone to a fancy event would be very expensive, but to invite everyone to meet-up at a public park with a picnic lunch means it's affordable, we can have a good time, and anyone can come.
Meet-up's are great for people with busy schedules too. For example, many of my friends take care of lots of people, and those people's needs are apt to change from minute to minute so tight scheduling is not a good fit for those people. Instead if you have regular meet-up's, people can come if they can or miss it if they have too. The flexibility is a good fit for busy people's schedules.
This summer, I have a lot of meet-up's planned for all kinds of groups including family, friends from the community, college friends and more. The meet-up is a good way to socialize, have fun, stay healthy ane enjoy each other's company. Onward.
