Pro-life, Pro-reproductive rights

I am pro-life and pro-reproductive rights. That's why I do not agree with the politicians who are reversing reproductive rights across the country.

As a women, I understand the tremendous complexity that reproduction brings to women's lives. I've heard all kinds of stories from women about their reproductive experiences, and those stories demonstrate to me the great complexity that reproductive issues bring to women's lives. I also know about the terrible deaths and medical issues that occurred before abortions were legal--women suffered greatly without reproductive rights. Reproductive complexity and the lost/injured lives that occurred prior to reproductive freedom are good reasons why we should not have one-size-fits-all laws against abortion.

I am pro-life and I believe that we should work towards uplifting and enriching lives in every way we can. To simply restrict abortion is not to uplift and enrich lives. There are many steps we can take to better lives, and when lives are better, there is less need for abortion and more lives overall are saved. We can enrich lives in these ways:

  • Increase access to optimal health care and education--good education and health care will reduce the need for abortion.
  • Increase quality of life measures including minimum wage, suitable homes, safe neighborhoods, nutritious foods, life-enriching laws/policies.
Increasing the quality of life will decrease the need for abortion and increase good lives overall. As a pro-life individual, I know that is a much better way to improve living than a one-size-fits-all law against reproductive rights. We can do better and we must. Onward.
