What are you working for? Is it worth it?

Most people are working for something and/or someone. There's something out there you want to achieve, and there are people you hope to serve. How do you determine whether your efforts are worth it or not?

As an educator, I was working mainly to teach better. The value of the work I did was evident in my teaching. As my teaching developed, I knew the efforts to learn more and better what I could do was worth it.

Who are you working for? Looking back and thinking about the people over time I was devoted to, most often the efforts were worth it. At times, I worked for people that may have not resulted in the best of me. I was lured into their grasp by motives, that in the end, turned out to be not as good as possible. It's important to think about who you are working for and why--sometimes you may find that you're there for the wrong reasons or the way you are working is not directed well.

What are you working for and is it worth it?

Thinking more about this, there was work I did that helped me to make more money, and in those cases the efforts were mostly worth it since the money helped my family and me. Sometimes, though, I may have been able to choose better jobs that resulted in more money or more consistent money, so it's important to take the time needed to think about what's out there and what you really need in order to make the best possible choices.

And, when we think about the question, Is it worth it, it's clear that have some long range goals based on good think and vision, helps you to work for goals and objectives that are worth it, goals and objectives that will improve your life and the lives of others in meaningful ways.

So, what are you working for and is it worth it?

For me, it's more of the same including strong, loving relationships, a warm welcoming home, care for family members, best possible health, and advocacy for the kind of world where people are able to live well.

Onward.
