We all encounter moments when life sucks. These moments are typically the culmination of a number of factors, often factors out of our control. How do we keep our heads above water during these times? What can we do?
Count your blessings
It may sound trite, but to actually count or list your blessings helps to bring perspective to any situation. It's rare that all the good attributes you enjoy in life will be lost in a single moment and more likely that you'll have many blessings to list such as your health, a home, loved ones, access to beautiful natural settings, good food, a good mind, entertainment that pleases you and/or other elements that bring you peace, make you happy and amount to blessings in your life.
See the situation for what it is
Most situations that suck are not permanent, and typically while these situations close doors, they open up other opportunities by way of activities, interests, people and places. Seek the promise in the problem as you find your way out.
Find some pleasure
Sometimes what you need to do is simply put the sucky situation out of your mind for a while and replace it with good music, a movie, good book, happy pastime or other endeavors that simply make you forget the sucky situation for a while.
Know that everyone encounters situations that suck
The old adage, misery loves company, is true. There's no one that doesn't face a sucky situation here and there in life. You're not alone.
This will pass
With good determination and effort to move beyond the troubles, you'll find yourself on the other side. When you get there, you'll be proud if you encountered the struggle with as much grace, perseverance, positivity and good effort possible
Pray and reflect
Good prayer and reflection will help you to gain strength to power through the struggle--take time out to pray and reflect.
Sometimes life sucks--that happens to all of us, but don't let it take you back or weigh you down. Instead seek as much resilience as you can muster and move in and out of the situation in time. Onward.
