When problems arise, there is always the question, Are you doing your part to solve the problem? In the face of problems that are always changing, that question remains a constant because while you may have done your part at one stage of the problem, you may need to reassess your role for another stage related to the problem.
Are you doing your part?
I was awake often last night pondering this question related to a situation at hand. Am I doing my part? What more can I do?
The answers to these questions may be compromised by a lack of resources, authority, or clear understanding. Yet, you can't simply allow problems to remain without any action to remedy the situation. What can you do?
To figure out the solution, one positive first step is to dissect the problem--what is really happening that is creating a problematic situation--what's missing or what is making a good situation, not so good?
With the situation at hand, I recognized that there are missing services that would solve the situation--services that would take a situation from bad to better. The next step is to access those services on a regular basis which means figuring out what's available and connecting the dots. Yet, without legal authority, that can be difficult.
Another solution path, is to imagine the ideal, and then work backwards. When you are working with a team, that can be challenging if the team's ideals are dissimilar.
In my situation, the solution is to do my part while advocating for more and better. That is the best path at this time. Onward.
