Back on track after vacation

The past week has been a vacation of sorts from many of the usual chores in life. I loved the time and space to work on a few meaningful projects and engage in some great outdoor adventure. Today marks a return to the busyness of life--those jobs that have to get done. Good time off has a way of making you forget what it is that you have to do on a regular basis, so this morning I'm taking some time to remind myself of life's necessary chores and events.

What are those needed daily/weekly chores that simply have to get done?

Bills

Fortunately, automatic billing has made this job a lot easier in today's world, but there are still some bills that one has to attend to regularly, particularly bills that seem wrong. I received one of those bills recently--I made a call, and was able to eliminate that bill since I was billed due to a misunderstanding. So even if bills are paid automatically, you have to regularly check those bills to make sure the charges are legitimate.

Preparation

Paying attention to what's coming up on the schedule helps you to be prepared for those events. Buying gifts, preparing clothes, organizing the house are chores that can be done before important events to come.

Shopping,  yard work, housekeeping, personal/family care

This regular activity is best completed with some kind of weekly routine that works for you and your family.

Staying in touch and support

Some people are so good at this. They send cards and thank you notes in a timely manner. They also call when they know you need extra support. They are there for you. Making time to stay in touch with those that matter helps to build the good relationships that makes life meaningful.

Professional prep and planning

Every type of work and profession demands continual prep and planning--when you get the education and training you need as well as aptly connect with others in your work world, you reap greater results. This has to be a regular part of your schedule.

Rest, recreation and relaxation

When you make good time to care for yourself and have a good time, you do a better job in life.

Today, I'll get back on track with an early start. I'll review the tasks at hand and then complete those tasks one after another.
