Do you project your vision on others?

Recently a struggle occurred because I projected my vision on others--I simply thought that others shared my vision for what was right and good, but that wasn't the case. The others each had their own vision for the situation--we were operating with different mindsets and end results in mind. Honestly it wasn't a situation where my vision was right and their visions were wrong, but instead simply differing visions, different ideas about what is right and good for the situation.

We all have to be careful that we don't project our vision on others. Instead it's good to listen and observe to fully understand the mindsets and outlook of those you're working with. And if there's the will, it's great to share those visions or even meld those visions into one successful plan and endeavor. The will to do that is not always there since people's sense of urgency, availability, and willingness to work together will differ too. Some will be eager to team and collaborate and others won't be interested.

Why do we project our vision on others? In some cases, we may think that the sense of team is stronger than it is. And, we may plow ahead without the good listening or observation that would inform us of the differing mindsets. Our own investment in our vision may blind us to the differences that exist too. When we're strong minded and passionate about what we believe in, we may miss the signs that differences exist and we may negate the work that has to be done to acknowledge and consider the impact of those differences.

So as I think of the many dreams I have in multiple arenas today, I'm thinking about who shares my vision and who doesn't and how that affects the work I'll do in the coming days. Onward.
