I was struck by the evident self discipline of a friend recently. No matter what happens, he keeps his self discipline in check. That takes a lot of strength sometimes.

Spending time with those that support your good habits, efforts, and discipline also helps. It can be very challenging to spend lots of time with people who don't value what you value.
