The death of Queen Elizabeth

The news is filled with stories of Queen Elizabeth's passing. The longevity of her reign, her incredible respectful, intelligent service and demeanor through so many personal and world events, and the pomp and circumstance associated with the world of kings and queens makes this a big story on the world stage.

Why are we drawn to this pomp and circumstance? I think we are all drawn in some ways to events bigger than us--events that include pomp and circumstance.

Why are we fascinated with the queen's life? She did have an incredible life, and throughout that life she remained steadfast, committed, respectful, and honorable. We can look to her example as we face life's celebrations and challenges.

And the longevity of her reign is similarly impressive--for 70 years, she stayed committed to her work and service. That's incredible.

We need leaders in our world who demonstrate respect, and who are willing to continually assess and revise their efforts to meet the challenges and opportunities of the day. We also need to be that kind of leader in our own arenas. Onward.
