Gratitude: Remembering the Good Times

 I find that I don't want to forget the good times and love my mother showed me over the years. This is my grateful list. 

Dear Mom, 

Thank you!

Thank you for singing songs to me. I remember you singing Mairzy Doats all the time and so many other songs in the car and around our home. 

Thank you for reading Aesop's Fables to me. 

Thank you for all of the happy day trips we took to visit Nanny and Grampy, Aunt Betty, Uncle Neal, Green Hill Park, and so many other happy, enjoyable places. 

Thank you for being such a great cook and baker.

Thank you for all those special birthday parties with the Valentine cakes, origami candy cups, good friends, pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey and musical chairs. 

Thank you for volunteering at my elementary school--everyone knew you.

Thank you for taking me shopping to get the clothes I needed for special occasions and everyday events. 

Thank you for welcoming my friends into our family home. 

Thank you for encouraging me to "live my own life."

Thank you for taking care of my children when I needed help to attend an appointment or attend a special event. 

Thank you for all the wonderful holiday celebrations throughout my life. 

Thank you for your gratitude as I helped to care for you in your later years of life. 

Thank you for having high expectations for me that made me reach. 

Thank you for your sage advice to "enjoy each stage".

Thank you for taking the time to make our childhood home warm and welcoming.

Thank you for doing what you could to keep the extended family close. 

Thank you for telling me so many wonderful stories over time. 

Thank you for being the bright, affable, generous person that you were.
