My husband has been remarking often about adventures friends and family members have been taking. I responded, "You can do that too." I think my response surprised him as I don't think he realized that a similar adventure was an option for him too. When we recognize our options in life, we are empowered.
Lately, I've been viewing life for myself and others with the question, 'What are your options?" Thinking big and recognizing our options strengthens our ability to live life well.
The real problem facing some lives is the lack of options--that's when people do need help. If someone is stuck in a situation with few to no good options, then they do need help and guidance. But for the most part, people have lots of options.
Where you live
Where you live is an option--cost of living differs greatly from place to place. Safety and quality of living differs too. Doing your research and considering your options can help you to live in a place that matches the quality and type of life you would like.
What you do
There are multiple career paths available in life. Some paths may come with more money and/or more stress, others may come with high quality of living, but less pay. Researching the details of those career paths helps you to make a choice about what you do and how that affects your quality of life.
Recreation
People recreate in all kinds of ways--finding recreation that fits your budget, lifestyle desires and interests is an important element of good living.
Objects
The objects you invest in matters too. Some people simply bury themselves in useless objects while others are more discerning about what they buy and why they buy it. For most of us, less is more when it comes to objects .
Community
How you create community and who you create community with matters too. When you live only for yourself, life can be quite empty, but when you live for others as well as yourself, it's likely that the community you create and contribute to will be richer.
Having options in life is a great privilege that empowers who we are and what we do. Think big. Consider your options and make your life choices with care. Onward.
