Temporary?

In truth, all things in life are temporary. Temporary is a relative term. Temporary can mean one minute, one year, a decade, a lifetime, a century or more, but in truth as the biblical saying goes, there is a time for everything, and as we know all things pass in time.

It can be discouraging to recognize the fact that nothing remains forever, and it is very sad to see the passing of people, events, and situations we deeply love, but we need to take the reality of passing seriously because when we do, we value what we have, what we experience, who we know, and what we do with much greater depth and care.

At the start of every new event, we must recognize that the event might never be repeated again, and with every moment with the people we love, we have to know that we never know how long our companionship will last. All things in life are temporary.

I will think about that today as I work to choose efforts that make the most of these temporary situations, relationships, and efforts we engage in over time because while the time together in any endeavor may be temporary, the rich, deep, wonderful feelings and experiences possible live with us and enrich our lives for a long, long time. Onward.
