Have you sat down and thought about what and/or who you are working and living for, and what that means for the way you live and the choices you make.
In the past few years, a lot of my time was spent living and working for a good quality of living for my parents, and now that Mom has died, I need to revisit that question. What am I living and working for? How does that decision affect the way I spend my time, money and energy.
As I think about this question in the days ahead, I want to discuss my thoughts with my husband as we want our focus to be mostly the same. What's most important to the two of us at this juncture?
Family
Family will definitely top the list, but more specifically I want to think about what family needs, and how I can be helpful.
Health
Health will also likely be a top priority, and I want to think about how to make good health happen.
Advocacy
Supporting initiatives and individuals that promote the common good in positive, productive ways will be a high priority too. I want to think about how I can do this in a more strategic, successful way.
Contribution
How might we contribute to the greater community too? In what ways, can we use our talents, skills and capacity to contribute to the greater community.
It's too easy to simply go along in life without truly focusing your time, energy and capacity in specific, meaningful and helpful ways. I want to be more discerning in this regard. Onward.
