There are countless ways to do what is good for yourself and others.
Do your research
Too often in life we may mindlessly move with the masses without taking the time to consider the facts, look into the future and analyze the past. It pays off to do your research. Good effort is often the result of research, analysis and depth. So as you consider the good acts you'll employ, make time to be reflective about those choices--don't mindlessly accept what people say or promote without doing the research to figure out what is right and good for you and others.
Create a stage for good living
Making the time to create a stage for good living for yourself and others is one way to do the good possible. When places are disorganized, messy and difficult to live or work in, people are often hindered with regard to doing their best or living well. Simplifying and organizing indoor/outdoor environments can foster better living.
Listen and observe those you love and care for
Make time to know what those you love and care for need and want. I thought of this as I witnessed the celebration of a relative's 90th birthday. I saw the love in the eyes of her family members. I know that this family member has always made special efforts to care for those she loves and cares for. Be wary of projecting what you think is right and good for others, and instead truly think about what those people want and need. Then work at helping them get what they need on a regular basis.
Take care of yourself
You can't take care of others if you don't take care of yourself. There's a balance to be had here with regard to care for self and care for others. Strike that balance.
Work for a cause or effort greater than yourself
Find a good and regular way to contribute to the greater good. That not only helps others, but gives your life greater meaning and purpose too. When we work for each other in positive ways, we build a better world, and that makes a positive difference in everyone's lives.
Every day it helps to ask yourself, What good will I do today? That will lead your life and the lives of others in a positive direction. We can all do that.
