Sometimes people lose sight of their goodness and worth. To a large degree this happens because society may not regard those individuals' gifts with the respect deserved. For example, many in society that serve children with heart, energy, and the best of themselves are actually looked down on or criticized in society. This is so sad, since those people truly engage and empower children in ways that help those children grow to be confident, contributing, positive individuals. The role of teaching and childcare is critical to good living today and into the future, and those that fill those roles deserve our support, encouragement, and respect.
In families, sometimes those whose gifts are not as popular or powerful in society are overlooked and under-respected. This plays a role related to physical appearance, money, athleticism, academic success, sociability and more. Yet, when we look deeply at who people are, we will notice their significant gifts and contributions in positive, encouraging, and supportive ways. I thought about his as an Uber driver related his life story recently--he clearly did not have the characteristics popular in the culture today, but he did clearly play a significant role with regard to his hard work and support for what is good and right in society--he clearly wants the best for people and is willing to support that via his ability to vote, work, and care for those he loves. I really enjoyed listening to his story and seeing his power in the world via his words.
All of us have goodness to share and acknowledge. We need to know our life story well and be grateful for the times in our lives we've been able to share that goodness with others. To compare ourselves to others in this regard is a dead-end street. Instead it's important to truly be thankful and cognizant of the times we empowered other individuals with our energy, talents, outlook, and abilities. And if people seem to forget the good that is us, it's okay to remind them in gentle ways. Once you remind someone, they will likely remark that they agree with you and they are forever thankful for the positive role you played in their lives.
No one can be all things. No one has all gifts or all experiences, and no once can be all the good there is to be. Yet, we all have good to give, ways to empower, and positivity to share. To acknowledge and develop your gifts is one of the best things you can do to empower your own life and the lives of others. Onward.
