Should Biden run in 2024?

 Should Biden run in 2024?

This is a question on every voter's mind because most voters know that two years is a short amount of time when it comes to campaigning for a national office.

Mass media has clearly worked against Biden's good reputation in countless ways. This is likely true because mass media, for the most part, is owned and managed by powerful money brokers the world over. Many of those powerful, wealthy individuals are more concerned with their own power, profit, privilege, and pleasure than they are concerned with the common good. I continue to believe that when all people have the opportunity and ability to live well, everyone lives a better life. However, wealthy individuals like Donald Trump, Elon Musk and others clearly work for their own profit, power, privilege, pleasure alone with little regard for the rest of the world. I believe that people like this are destructive, dehumanizing, dangerous, and deadly leaders.

Should Biden run in 2024?

If you take the time to consider the BidensWins list, you'll see that President Biden has successfully worked for the common good. His wins are many including the following:

  • He did not take Trump bait. He could have spent his first two years fighting with former-president Trump, but instead he focused his attention on the common good working to uplift lives.
  • He selected a great team of dedicated, intelligent, experienced, collaborative public servants that represent the diversity of this country, and who have worked to do extraordinary work for the American people. If you remember, Trump wasted a lot of potential by choosing inexperienced, seemingly compromised friends and family members to fill important offices. This stalled, hindered, and harmed the good work possible while forwarding hateful, hurtful, deadly acts such as the January 6th terrorist assault on the United States Capitol.
  • President Biden has positively forwarded countless good efforts to improve lives. This is one list that names Biden's countless accomplishments as President of the United States: https://joebiden.com/accomplishments/#
Clearly, President Joe Biden has been a successful President of the United States. He has done the good work for the people, demonstrated extraordinary character, and is a man we can all look up to with regard to being our best selves. This is very, very good.

Yet, should President Biden run for another term?

I am very empathetic about this decision. From my own limited perspective, I had a similar decision to make with regard to my career, and I decided to step down from a 34-year career as an educator. I stepped down for a number of reasons related to health and family. While I miss my former career, I know I made the right choice.

I believe that President Biden and the Democratic Party should do the following:
  • President Biden should personally make that pros and cons list about whether running for President again is right for his life, his family's lives, and the life of this country. As he noted the other day, he and his wife should take a vacation and give this decision some deep consideration.
  • Leaders in the democratic party who are knowledgeable about political trends should also think carefully about this. They should consider the history of what happens at moments like this and they should consider the realities about the current Republican party. They should make recommendations to President Biden and others who may want to run to be President of the United States.
  • Those that feel deeply about running for President, and those who feel they have what it will take to be President should run.
  • Democrats who run should commit to a civil, humane, positive race that includes fair debates, humane campaigning, and a collective effort to educate the population about government and voting. Then I believe that the primary process should work to let the best candidate rise in honest, humane, positive ways. If Biden rises as he did last time, I will certainly support his campaign for Presidency, and if some other democrat rises, I will support that person. It is unlikely that I would support a Republican candidate, though in the past I have supported honest, hard working, dedicated Republicans like Charlie Baker who did any amazing job as Governor of Massachusetts.
Should Biden run?

I don't know, but I believe the process listed above should be the answer to that question.
