Once when I was facing a professional challenge, my husband reminded me of Bill Belichick's advice to his Patriot's team which was to chunk it--take it step by step. I thought of this advice recently as I embarked on a two-week challenge to obtain a new ability. Two-weeks won't catapult me into the expert field for this challenge, but it should jump start an overall positive effort.
So how do you create and maintain a two-week challenge.
First, identify the goal and how you'll assess the goal achievement.
Next, figure out what you have to do to reach the goal.
Then set up a schedule to attain the goal, and figure out how to mitigate the people, places, or events that will obstruct goal attainment.
After that, get started.
Onward.
