Recent news made me wonder how people stay afloat when things don't go their way with regard to significant events. How do people stay strong? How have I stayed strong when that happened?
Acknowledge the truth of the matter
When things don't go your way, it is important to acknowledge the situation with detail. What happened? Why did that happen? What role did you play or not play with regard to the situation? What can you do to potentially change the situation going forward?
Make a plan as to how you'll survive the situation
Once you've acknowledged the situation, it's time to make a plan as to how you'll survive with best possible living. When we look back at history, there are countless stories which show how people survived troubling situations, situations that didn't go their way. Use those stories as inspiration for your decisions and plans.
Find the light in the darkness
No matter how difficult a situation is, there is usually some light. Find that light, and let that light empower you throughout the ordeal.
Create some rules for living for yourself
Decide how you will act in this situation. Make some rules to guide your behavior and potential safety or way out of the ordeal. Follow your rules, and revise those rules as necessary.
Team
For strength, create teams with others, and then journey through this experience with those people in ways that are helpful and positive. Difficult situations profit from good teaming and camaraderie.
Dream and work for betterment
Make time to imagine how the situation may become better, and then work for that betterment in ways that you can.
For many, the political realities in the United States and world today are not ideal. Self-serving, greedy, bigoted, hateful leaders are creating havoc and hindering the best of whom we can be as a people. These me-first, conscience-less individuals are dangerous and destructive. Many of us know this is not positive for any one of us and that we can do better. As we work for better, it is important to face the situation with our best possible choices, activity, and mindsets in order to reach for better. Onward.
