In life, we travel through somewhat similar stages. I'm wondering if we have to revisit the norms for those ages given the changes we've experienced as a society.
Babies
Countries with the best quality of living give parents time to nurture their babies. Time off from work to care for your babies gives your baby the best possible start to life. We need to make this happen in the USA.
Pre-schoolers
It's vital that we have optimal day care options for all pre-schoolers. This will allow parents to continue their career paths and/or stay at home to care for their children. This stage of life is critical to developing the mindset, knowledge, comfort, and skills to live a good life.
Elementary School
Every child needs to have a great education to succeed in today's world. We must support best possible public schools that provide students with a safe, happy, positively challenging, creative education experience. We know how to do this, but often the funding, staffing, and good leadership is not made available to make this happen.
High School, College, and Career Starts
We need a number of positive paths for students to travel as they obtain a high school and college/career education. These paths have to support the whole person, not just specific academic or career skills. We need to include the kind of education that helps people make positive choices about their health, lifestyle, relationships, and good living--too many young Americans enter adulthood without the needed knowledge, skills, mindset, or creativity to live their best possible lives.
Adulthood
There are many ways that we can support healthy adulthood including safe, caring communities, access to optimal education/health care services, healthy recreation, and good positive government and leadership.
We also need to promote the kind of policies that respect the wide range of work people do. No one should work full time and not make enough money to afford adequate housing, food, family, health care, and positive recreation. Everyone should have a responsibility of contributing to the common good via fair tax laws too.
Old Age
We need to revisit life for older Americans since people are living long lives, and we have to find ways to best respect and care for our older Americans.
