When COVID hit and I retired to care for family members and because I wasn't happy with the COVID-related decisions at school, I wasn't as committed to one word since it was a time of great change for my life, and due to COVID, the lives all around me. Now, more than two years later, I'm ready to commit to a new word, a word that matches my current goals and that word is Observe.
I chose the word Observe because for so long I've been leading my life with great energy and vision--from my earliest days I felt a great desire to arrive at the destination where I am now. It took a lot of drive, energy, spirit, and some serendipity and luck to get here, and the journey overall has been terrific. That said, the journey wasn't always easy, but all along the way I learned a lot, enjoyed many significant moments, and traveled with amazing people.
Now I'm at a turning point, a point where I want to lead less and observe more. The world around me is greatly changing in a large number of ways. Many of those who I dedicated myself to need me less and are leading me more. I want to truly look at what they are doing and hear why they are making the choices they are making. I want to step back from the front and view from behind. I want to be there when needed, but not as the leader. This, in many ways, is a new position for me, and a position I look forward to.
I'll lead my efforts with the acrostic and image below:
