Why do we continue to knock on doors when no one answers?

In a sense, I knocked on a door repeatedly to no response. Why did I keep knocking? I just couldn't believe no one was there--their absence didn't make sense to me in any way. Yet, it's time now to stop knocking--the reality of the situation is different than I imagined or desired. I don't understand it, but that's the way it is and I have to accept that.

Why do we knock on doors in life when there's no response? Why do we persist? How can our vision or desire be so strong that we ignore the reality of situations in favor of what we hope for rather than what truly exists? I will think on those questions in time, but for now I'll stop knocking on doors where there's no response and seek those doors where ready honest responses exist. Onward.
