No matter who you are, it's likely that there's some hard work to do in your life. Hard work, work that is challenging, varies from person to person as do our reactions to that challenging work. Some of us procrastinate endlessly and others get right to it and do that onerous work. Wherever you sit on that continuum, the reality is that hard work doesn't go away unless you find a way to get it done.
What strategies help you complete the hard jobs in life?
The to do list
I find that the to do list helps. I keep a running list of jobs to do, review the list regularly, and complete those jobs when I feel like it. That's one way I get the hard jobs done. For example, if I get up with a lot of good energy, I may be able to complete a hard task on days like that.
Teamwork
Often challenging work is best done with a team. Recently my family faced a tough job, and we did it together--that definitely illustrated the adage, many hands make light work. What was a tough job became almost enjoyable as we tackled the task together.
Just do it
Too much thought and too much procrastination get in the way of hard work. Instead, just doing it saves a lot of time and gets the job done.
Break it down with a good routine
Add that task to your regular routine so that you stay up to date with the efforts related to the job.
Hire someone to do the task
Sometimes a task is difficult because you simply don't have the time, materials, or skill to do that job, and that's when you may decide to hire someone to do the job.
Simplify
When you simplify your life, you often rid your life of a number of challenging tasks--reducing the things you own and efforts you engage in may take away some of those hard jobs.
Listen to music, watch a show
Like many, I listen to music or watch shows when I'm trying to get those difficult jobs done.
Know when your best energy is and use that time for hard jobs
Everyone has times in the day and week that are their best energy times. Typically it's easier to complete a tough job when you have your best energy.
Everyone has hard work to do, and the more you put off those difficult jobs, the harder they become. Find the hard work strategies that work best for you, and get those jobs done sooner than later (Note to self). Onward.
