| McCarthy is proving himself to be the ringmaster of the MAGA shit show. He is clearly not a leader with good character working to promote the best of what the USA can be. |
I rarely swear, but today as I sought the right words to describe McCarthy's leadership in the House of Representatives and Trump/MAGA leadership throughout the country, the best description was that their collective leadership is a shit show.
What is shit?
Feces are the product of our body's cleansing process--we have to get rid of the feces or shit to remain healthy. Similarly we have to get rid of the contemptible and worthless leaders in government in order for our country to be healthy.
Why are Trump and MAGA Leaders unhealthy for the United States?
Propaganda, misinformation, lies
Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the House, recently admitted that he doesn't want to ask the liar, George Santos, to resign because many government leaders lie. In effect he said, let the contemptible people continue to serve. That's a poor way to lead. Lying is not only wrong, but it is destructive and deadly. Lies promoted by MAGA Leaders related to COVID have resulted in deaths. In speaking to a doctor who treated COVID patients, she told me that in one hospital patients were sadly asking for vaccine-like support on their death beds--they had no idea that the virus and lack of vaccines could kill them. They had been bamboozled by MAGA propaganda and lies. Whereas in hospitals where people paid attention to the science, there were far fewer deaths--those people followed honest, science-smart leaders instead.
The Trump way is to promote propaganda, lies, and misinformation that misleads the public in ways that increase the power, pocketbook, privilege, and pleasure of the propagandists and their privileged cronies alone. This propaganda leads to less good living and even death and long term harm for those who believe these corrupt leaders.
Terrorism and violence
When Trump lost the election, he could not accept the results. Instead he and his MAGA cronies orchestrated The Big Lie and the January 6th domestic terror insurrection that resulted in terror, violence, vandalism, obstruction of justice, harm, and death. This violent domestic terror assault cost the American people lots of money, time, potential, lives, and peace. Terrorist attacks like this create great havoc and harm--they are a true shit show--a show that is truly horrible and life harming/ending.
Self-serving leadership
When Trump took office, he filled government offices with inexperienced, errant friends and family members who used their offices to promote their personal profit, power, privilege, and pleasure. Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, was appointed to a high position where he was able to obtain $2,000,000,000 in return from the Saudi's. Even worse than their self-serving corruption and sloth was the fact that our government was essentially stalled with regard to serving the people since these errant appointees did not have the experience or will to serve the people. While Trump was President, the government essentially worked for Trump and his cronies' profit and pleasure alone. Americans suffered greatly during this time due to a lack of leadership with good character, focus, ability, or effort.
Many Americans were fooled by Trump's lies, propaganda, bravado, and theater. Trump who is a powerful conman and marketeer was able to fool these folks with his showy loud rallies and speak--they liked his cartoon-like, superhero act and believed his hate speak and empty promises. That's a sad reality which makes the Trump and MAGA shit show even more contemptible and debilitating for our country.
House Leadership and Committee Assignments
McCarthy emphasizes the divisive, destructive, deadly shitshow focus as he appoints liars and those who supported the deadly January 6th insurrection to important committees and assignments within those committees. This reality demonstrates McCarthy's complete lack of ethics and tight tether to Trump and his heinous donors and cronies' deadly, destructive agenda. This work demonstrates the insurrectionists' ability to infiltrate important government offices and efforts. Hopefully the Department of Justice will soon begin holding these individuals accountable for their efforts to demean and destroy our democracy.
Government at its best is not a broadway musical, wrestling match, Miss Universe pageant, parade, or rock concert. At its best government should actually be quite boring as people deal with the details, science, strategies, and routines that create good laws and policies to improve lives and protect our country so that people can live good lives in peaceful, promising ways. Good government is also not a situation of simply good or bad, but instead a situation of moving towards betterment on a continuum. No leader will be perfect, and the best leaders know that, own that, and work with diverse teams of dedicated, intelligent, thoughtful, experienced people to do the best possible work for the people and country. Together, along with the active support and focus of the American people, good leaders can build a strong government with and for all Americans.
Let's put this Trump-created MAGA shit show to rest and return to building a powerful, promising, top-notch government of dedicated, hard working, honest leaders who will dedicate their ambition, smarts, energy, and time to serving ALL Americans in ways that move us forward as a people. We can do this.
