What are you working for?

Typically we live our lives every day with some pattern and aim in mind? Most of us don't simply move through the day without attention to a good routine, work of some kind, and purpose. I thought about this today as I planned a local adventure.

In your life, what are you working and living for, and are you achieving that aim? As a student, I was working to meet the expectations of school, enjoy my friendships, and figure out what it was that I wanted to invest my time and energy in. Later, in the many workplaces, I was employed, I was invested in the mission of the organization, and as a mom, I wanted the best for my children.

Now, at this later stage, I continue to be invested in the welfare of my family today and into the future. I'm also invested in the welfare of the community too--how can we foster positive, life enriching communities, what can we do? That's the general direction of where I'm headed, but what does that look like specifically with regard to my daily schedule, activities, study, and more?

Specifically I'm devoted to the people closest to me, and what I can do to support their good lives and goals. I play an important role in this regard--a role that I take seriously and a role I enjoy doing. To carry out this plan, I have to take care of myself too--I need good energy and health to meet the expectations of this role. And as for the community, I'm still figuring out what that role specifically looks like. For now, that roles includes staying updated on community events and advocacy and supporting good work and causes that exist. Later that role may include additional actions and investments.

It's important to step back and review what it is you are working for and how you are meeting those expectations from time to time--that's one good way to move ahead with positivity and success. Onward.
