What can voters do while McCarthy turns the House into a dehumanizing circus?

If last week's Speaker vote and yesterday's news from the House of Representatives are any indication of what the next two years will be like in that division of Congress, then it's important for voters who support good, honest, people-centered government to have a game plan. That game plan needs to provide a path for countering the ridiculous, wasteful, potentially harmful and deadly House of Representatives' propaganda show.

Know what matters

Every voter has to make a list of the issues that truly matter to them, and stay focused on those issues as the wasteful Republican propagandists in the House of Representatives promote one wasteful, hurtful, ridiculous proposition after another. It's the Republican way now to distract and manipulate voters in ways that promote their corrupt self-serving aim to prop up their personal power, pleasure, profit, and privilege rather than serve the people.

As I consider what matters to me as a voter, I have these priorities:

  • Hold the powerful, corrupt insurgents and domestic terrorists including Donald Trump who orchestrated and promoted The Big Lie and January 6th domestic terror insurrection at The Capitol accountable. Evil leaders who are willing to harm/hurt others for their personal fame/gain are the world's greatest problem.
  • Work to make sure that EVERY American has the needed money, homes, food, community, and social supports to live a good life.
  • Update infrastructure including schools and health facilities to provide Americans with top-notch environments, schools, and health facilities.
  • Preserve and protect our natural resources--resources we need to survive and resources that inspire and educate us in multiple life enriching ways. Don't sell our resources to errant foreign governments.
  • Ban assault weapons and promote sensible gun laws to protect innocent lives, lives too often lost via gun violence during suicide, domestic assaults, and violence against innocents in the streets, schools, shopping places, homes, and more.
  • Continue to support the arts, scientific research, and supports for optimal child and family welfare.
  • Bridge the harmful wage-gap by making wealth individuals and corporations pay their share of taxes and abide by policies that support a strong America rather than sell off our best lands and resources to the highest bidders all over the world.
Don't support the waste of time and effort

The Republicans who don't care about our personal freedom, health, or good living are proposing big time freedom-sucking acts that create a lot of distraction from the issues that truly matter. These freedom-sucking, sensational ideas are issues that won't change their lives at all, but will have impact on Americans who historically have not had as much privilege as these mostly White wealthy male Republican Representatives. Counter their wasteful effort with questions that ask them why they are not working on the truly tough issues in the United States, issues that will greatly and positively empower our lives. Also ask these Representatives who they receive their donor money from and what that means with regard to the way they vote and who they work for in Congress. Too many Republican representatives work only for themselves and their donors, not you or me.

Know the truth

If you listen to the Republican propagandists in the house, then research their words, you'll find that they use words to promote fear, anger, hate, and divide. They sensationalize issues with big general statements that are often misleading and untrue. It is very important to listen carefully to their words and research the truth of the matter. I did that during the Speaker vote episode and found that Republican lawmakers were mostly using big broad statements that did not represent their efforts when it came to voting for or working for human rights and a better America. In general they're full of hot air that only promotes propaganda that ensures they'll continue to receive big payouts from the organizations that desire to own these representatives.

When I read of the backwards, wasteful, distracting, and self-serving efforts that many Republican Representatives promote, I am upset. I am mostly upset because this errant work wastes time, money, and potential; time, money, and potential that could be used to truly empower people all over America. For the most part, these Republican Representatives are narrow-minded, self-serving, and often corrupt in their efforts. Many will tell lies, spread propaganda, and relay misinformation to get their way, and that harms our democracy greatly. We need to counter this errant work with lots of questions, fact finding, and a focus on the issues that matter most when it comes to empowering the good lives possible. Onward.
