Aging well

I've been watching my loved ones age and thinking about what has made their later years positive. These are some strategies that appear to work well.

A positive routine

It seems to me that my older relatives who are happier have positive daily and weekly routines that includes the good food, rest, comfort, and engaging, just-right challenging activities on their own and with others.

Contribution

These friends and relatives continue to reach out and give to others in ways that they can. They continue to have a positive influence on the people around them.

Good health

All of the loved ones I know who are older manage their health well. When problems arise, they see their doctors and they stick to healthy routines that promote their best possible health.

Simple environments

Their environments are simple and easy to manage--they've pared down with regard to objects and space in order to live lives without too much complexity.

Positivity

These people don't complain much and are positive most of the time.

Good values

They let their good values lead them.

Financial matters organized

These individuals have organized their financial matters in ways that make those matters simple and helpful.

We can learn a lot about each stage of life via observation and engagement. My loved ones, older than me, are showing me a positive way to age. I'm taking note. Onward.
