March madness

The March madness this year has been the weather. Is it any different than weather in past March? I'm not sure, but we had some early spring-like days that jump started my spring spirit only to be dwarfed by gray, stormy days. More than ever, I'm ready for the warmth and color of spring this year. Next year I'm definitely planning a getaway in March as it's my least favorite month in New England.

That acknowledged, it's time to move ahead with plans for an eventful, active spring, summer, and fall--a time of family gatherings, outdoor adventures, house projects, and more. When winter rolls around again in late November and December, I'll be ready to hunker down to catch up on movies I've missed, online games, research projects, and other creative indoor endeavors.

I love the seasons and can't imagine living in a place where he weather is the same all year round. And every year, I tire of one season as a new season approaches and every year I'm excited at the start of a new season. I love the first snow, but detest the last one. I love the first 90-degree day, but hate the last one. What I like most in all is how the seasons do change and each season brings with it its own menu of activities, interests, weather, and ways of living.

So it's only mid-March and I'm in the midst of the madness this season brings. I'd like to hurry it along, and I've brought a bit of spring inside with forced bulbs and forsythia branches. I like watching those plants grow each day. I'll also start the seedlings today or tomorrow following my planting schedule and prepare for a celebration of Easter and spring birthdays in the coming weeks.

The best way to bare these March madness days is to prepare for the warm, spring days ahead. That will bring some sanity to the madness.
