I was disappointed as I watched my vision crumble. I had a great vision for the situation, and that vision didn't come to fruition. Why? What happened?
This isn't the first time this has happened to me. In fact, I've experienced this many times in life. I enter a situation with a big vision only to find that vision is not met in entirety. Why?
I've learned that one reason visions in the past didn't come to fruition is that I didn't work well enough with the team. While I was moving forward towards the vision, they weren't moving with me because we didn't spend enough time upfront creating a collaborative vision we were all invested in. To meet your vision with any team requires good teamwork and shared vision.
In other situations when the team shared the vision, the prep work was not done with enough detail and care. While our shared vision was strong, our preparation was not strong enough.
This time, I realized that the team was simply not on board for this vision. I didn't take the time to identify the right team because I simply thought who wouldn't share this simple vision, but in reality the team I identified did not share that vision--they weren't invested or interested in this project.
So now I have to rethink the vision and rethink the team too--I need to find a new team to work with to make this vision a reality, and I also have to analyze the vision to figure out why those I thought would share my vision, don't share in that vision.
Big dreamers like me are full of vision for the future--we have lots and lots and lots of ideas, and we often meet with situations where people don't see it our way. That's a challenge to face. Onward.
