On this Easter weekend I am thinking about what we can do to make this a better world. I've been impacted recently by the music and lyrics of Simon Robert French, a New Hampshire musician. Robert's lyrics are heart felt expressions I believe many in our country share, expressions that yearn for freedom to live good lives and be who you are.
I ache as I witness too many narrow-minded, bigoted, hateful, hurtful leaders in our country and world using their power to harm and hurt people all the time. Rather than work for the common good and to solve the problems we share as humanity, they selfishly work only to promote their personal profit, power, privilege, pleasure, and protection--they are backwards, narrow-minded, ignorant, power-brokers who have no vision related to what is right and good for people everywhere.
None of us are perfect, and none of us alone will know or do all that is needed to build a good life for all of humanity--but we can work together to right our course in that direction. Clearly, that's what we have to do. I am thankful to the many people, young and old, courageously advocating for the greater good with their words, advocacy, song, and collective action. I'm on their side. Onward.
