None of us will know it all and life is a learning ladder. With that in mind, we can't go wrong overall if we make a steady commitment to doing what is right and good. What does that mean? What is "right and good?"
Over time values of good living have been promoted by many. These values including honesty, kindness, inclusion, perseverance, teamwork, service, and open-mindedness help us to work together as a people to promote what is right and good. On the contrary dishonesty, disrespect, rudeness, violence, greedy, sloth, and narrow-mindedness prevent the good possible and promote that which is hateful and hurtful in society. One of the clearest expressions of this hate, greed, and violence was the way Donald Trump's disrespectful, hateful comments about immigrants inspired a young man in Texas to massacre multiple innocent people in a Walmart. Trump chose to spread that hate and incite that violence--he continues to choose to spread hate and incite violence with his angry lies and threats. This is not right or good.
At times, what is wrong may look glitzy and attractive. Again, Trump is a good example of that--some follow him with fanfare as he lies, spreads propaganda, obstructs the law, and works in countless greedy, corrupt, criminal ways. They fall for his self-promotion and propaganda or are similar to him in their self-serving, dehumanizing ways. In the end, they will likely realize that the life they've chosen in not positive for themselves or others.
On the other hand, there are many who day after day do what is right and good. They follow people of good character, reflect upon their lives, work to improve their circumstances and the circumstances of others, unlearn behaviors and ideas that have been proven wrong, and commitment to doing what is right and good to the best of their knowledge. This is not always easy for lots of reasons, but it is always the right thing to do.
Watching Trump's demise solidifies the message that a steady commitment to doing what is right and good is the way to go. To embrace a life of hate, harm, and lawlessness does no one any good. Do the right thing. In the end, you'll be happy you did. Onward.
