Party Time

Parties bring people together for all kinds of reasons. A good party demands prep. Our family will celebrate birthdays, holidays, family reunions and more in the coming months. Today, I'll prep for those parties. As I prep, I'll do the following:

Dishware

There are some dishes that work better than others when it comes to serving--I'll make sure those dishes are handy.

Table settings

Keeping the table setting items close by makes it easy to prepare a table in a timely way. Paper or cloth napkins, plates, silverware, butter, salt, pepper, a pitcher of water, candles and other decorative items are placed on the table.

Foods

We generally divvy up the responsibilities for cooking foods and provide a number of options so that people with food sensitivities or limitations have good options.

Appetizers

We generally start the gathering with appetizers including cheeses, crackers, veggies, fruits, and nuts. We also have a variety of drinks available.

Buffet

Since our home is relatively small and our guests usually large in numbers, we generally set up a buffet for ease of serving and to make the best use of the space available.

Dessert

We usually have one or more desserts which often include ice cream.

Clean house

Of course, we clean up the house prior to the guests arrival.

Music

My husband is great at choosing good playlists for parties.

Parties bring people together, and this kind of togetherness is valuable to our lives. Onward.
