Last week I spent a lot of time planning a trip with a loved one. I tried to think about everything my loved one would need to make the trip successful, but I forgot to think about my own needs which was a big mistake. We have to consider our own needs as well as the needs of those we love when we plan trips and events.
So today as I plan for another family event, I want to think about what I need for a successful endeavor. While it seems crazy to forget your own needs, I don't think that's uncommon for caregivers--we're so focused on caring for others that we sometimes forget ourselves.
So, what do I need for a positive event?
Rest
I've always done best when I get a good night's sleep.
Outdoor exploration
I love to get outdoors and engage in explorations and adventures.
Healthy, delicious foods
I love healthy, good food.
Independence
I love having some time for myself to think, read, write, and wonder.
