With the COVID emergency removed, I haven't worried too much about contracting the illness. Yet this weekend at a celebration, the virus spread. Several people who attended the party contracted COVID including me. Fortunately, thanks to the vaccines, my bout with COVID is mild including an achy body, light fever, sleepiness, and a bit of congestion. I'm sorry this happened, but happy that it happened before my upcoming summer vacation.
The one upside of getting sick is that it reminds you to be grateful for your good health. The last time I was ill like this was when I contracted COVID the first time about two years ago. My symptoms were similar then. Getting sick reminds you of what you have to do to stay healthy including hand washing, adequate rest, good nutrition, and avoidance, if possible, of illnesses that rage. For example, a couple of weeks ago, I was in a market where a man was coughing all over he place. Fortunately I had a mask in my pocketbook and put that on. I didn't get sick then.
With COVID still around, I'll be sure to get my next vaccine when possible. I'll also get the flul vaccine this fall too. We're fortunate to live at a time when there are many ways to avoid illness. Onward.
