Those of us who strive to do our best may find it difficult to make peace with the world's imperfections. We're dreamers who hope for a peaceful, positive world, yet the world represents multiple imperfections, the kind of imperfections that work against peace and positivity. How do you reckon with such an imperfect world?
Focus on the good
When you focus on what's peaceful and positive, you'll likely find that there's a lot of good out there. Troubling events often catch our attention, but when we make ourselves focus on the good, we will find that we have a lot to be thankful for.
Promote the good
Once you make that "good" list, think of ways that you might contribute to that list to increase the good around you. There are limitless ways to promote the good in your life and the life of the communities around you.
Acknowledge the bad
Note what it is about the world around you that's not so good. For example, most of us don't support actions that lead to greater harm and destruction on small and large scales. Most of us want a peaceful world. Think about the bad acts and events that affect you, then think of ways that you might combat life's troubling events--what can you do to change that.
Life will never be perfect, and what's perfect for one person will be different for another. Yet, by acknowledging the good and bad, then working to promote the good we can build positive lives for ourselves and others. Onward.
