Looking ahead: What's on life's agenda?

We can't perfectly predict the future, but we can look ahead with ideas about what's possibly going to happen, and when we do that, we're better able to create reasonable budgets, schedules, and projects to support good living. So what's ahead in my life?

Old and new relationships

I'll likely continue to enjoy relationships old and new. I want to support those relationships in positive ways since I know that life is better when we have positive relationships. My loved ones will likely enjoy a myriad of old and new relationships too, and I look forward to embracing those people in my life as well.

Death and dying

Sad as it may be, there will be a number of deaths in my future as I consider my very large family. We've lost several loved ones this year. Most had lived long, loving lives, but one, our nephew, lost his life too early. He had so much to live for, and we were all looking forward to his bright future. That was a very sad death. We can't eliminate death and dying from our lives, but we can try to live in ways that promote good living as much as possible. And, we'll enjoy the people we love in our lives and do what we can for them while they are here with us.

Marriages

With lots of young adults in our lives, it's likely that there will be several marriages in the years to come. I love to see people in love tie the knot in celebratory ways. I look forward to those celebrations.

Birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays

We'll continue to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays in new and traditional ways. Those events bring us together regularly in special ways.

Graduations

Many will complete academic programs in the year ahead, and I'm looking forward to celebrating those graduations in meaningful ways.

Vacations and travel

We'll continue to plan enjoyable vacations and travel as wel can. We love getting away to see new places in adventurous ways.

Babies

It's possible that there will be new babies in our lives in the next ten years--it will be wonderful to welcome new family members when the time is right.

Moves

Loved ones, older and younger, will likely make some moves that will affect our lives. Some may move closer and some may move further away. We'll embrace those moves with positivity.

Health

We'll do what we can to stay healthy and meet health challenges with our best research, outreach, and change to stay as healthy as possible.

Relationship struggles

As people seek to live their best lives, there will likely be some relationship struggles. Sometimes you have to go out on your own without the support of close friends or family to be who you are. I'll respect those struggles and be patient as people find their ways.

World events

As we dramatically experienced with the pandemic, there will be world events that affect our lives. When those events happen, we'll work together with others as well as leaders to make the best of it with the knowledge that there is always light in any situation and searching for the light when there are tough events is a positive way to travel.

We can't exactly predict what life holds for us, but we know the categories of change and growth that will likely occur. As we live our lives, we can prepare for these changes as one way to live a positive life for ourselves and others. Onward.
