Overplanning

I became a planner many years ago when I realized I was overplanning and unable to keep up with the plans I made. I resorted to more careful planning to deal with the issue. Lately I realized that the overplanning issue crept up on me again. Sometimes I forget that I'm not superhuman and think that I can do far more than I can do. Also, I forget to take into account changes that occur when making plans. For example, I may make plans with friends forgetting that those friends have moved quite a distance away or that the friends have a lot more responsibility or limitations now.

Overplanning is rarely positive. Instead, it's almost better to underplan which leaves some time to catch-up and to respond to spontaneous opportunity and circumstances. When you move from overplanning to underplanning, you have to know what your priorities are since you don't want to underplan for your priorities. You also want to make sure your schedule reflects your values and the person you want to be.

In the days ahead family, friends, the garden, my home, and health will take priority. Onward.
