Some same challenges in life tend to repeat. I have one of those in my midst, and I have tried a large number of strategies to smooth out that rocky path with no long lasting success. I've read countless articles about this challenge, and the lack of long lasting success in that regard has been tremendously frustrating. But, after a good night's sleep, I am trying yet another strategy to smooth out what will likely be a lifelong challenge.
I know I'm not alone in this type of situation. Just recently I spoke to a friend who recounted a similar lifelong strife in her life. The situation she recounted was not an easy one. Her challenge was one of circumstance and no fault of her own--it was simply her burden to bear in life. Looking around and listening carefully, you realize that most people have a few situations like that. The situation may be one related to illness, lifestyle, history, geography, politics, or something else.
These crosses that we bear in the best sense help to refine who we are and how we live. We gain a lot of empathy and humanity from these situations if we allow that to happen. I remember a long time ago when I worked for The Red Cross for a short stint. A woman I worked with during a disaster relief situation spoke about situaitons like this. I remember admiring and learning from her wisdom that day.
So today, I'll try yet another strategy to smooth out the rocky road of this natural, but confounding, life challenge. I'm hopeful that this strategy will work. Onward.
